The first issue of Irving Union,
a student newspaper, is published. Due to its limited readership,
students voted to terminate its publication in December
1877 in favor of Student Life, a paper that would
be "the exponent of all the schools of the University."
Student-run newspaper, Student Life,
published its first issue and continued publishing monthly.
